Boston Pradaxa Attorney

Pradaxa® is a blood-thinning medication intended to reduce the risk of stroke in people with non-vavular atrial fibrillation (AFib). Although it was initially a popular drug prescribed as an alternative to warfarin, Pradaxa it has become well-known for causing serious side effects, which include an increased risk of severe internal bleeding, including blood clots, venous thrombosis events (VTE), pulmonary embolisms after hip or knee surgery and, most severe, death. Worst of all, the negative side effects of this drug are irreversible.

Some of the serious side effects from Pradaxa that may warrant the consultation of your doctor and attorney include:

  • Coughing up or vomiting blood (appearing as coffee grounds)
  • Frequent nose bleeds
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Pink or brown urine
  • Bleeding from the gums
  • Bleeding which you cannot control
  • Red or black stools.

Pradaxa and a similar drug, Xarelto, were initially introduced to the market as advancements to replace to the 50-year-old medication known as Coumadin (Warfarin). However, despite being showcased as a revolutionary alternative to age-old medication such as Coumadin, these drugs are causing more harm than good. Worst of all, the manufacturers of these drugs have failed to effectively warn consumers of these serious, life-threatening risks.

If you are concerned about your or a family member’s use of Pradaxa we want to hear from you. It is important that you protect your legal rights by contacting an attorney knowledgeable about handling Pradaxa cases.

Statute of Limitations

If you or a family member are among the anxious group of people who have taken Pradaxa for AF and are interested in speaking with an attorney, there is a time limit on how long you have to pursue your case called the Statute of Limitations. The Statute of Limitations is different in each state. Once the Statute of Limitations expires, if you have not filed a lawsuit your case will be forever barred. Therefore, if you or someone you know has suffered the serious negative side effects caused by taking Pradaxa them contact an attorney at Sweeney Merrigan Law at (617)-391-9001 for a case evaluation before it’s too late.
