Ryan Hawkins

Ryan Hawkins focuses his practice on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, construction injuries, motor vehicle collisions, workers’ compensation, and other complex civil litigation matters. Drawing on his experience in civil, criminal, and administrative law, he brings a practical, courtroom-tested approach for every client.

In 2025, he recovered $1.25 million for a young man who suffered severe injuries when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. He also recovered $1.15 million for a woman who fractured her femur after tripping over a defective condition in a commercial parking lot.

For every case, Hawkins brings extensive litigation and courtroom experience. As an Assistant District Attorney with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, he conducted more than 30 jury trials and 40 bench trials. He also served as a judicial law clerk for the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Prior to joining Sweeney Merrigan Law, Hawkins served as a Director at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, where he oversaw state regulation of ride-hailing companies, including Uber and Lyft.

Hawkins earned his J.D. from New England Law | Boston in 2012, during which time he worked as a Legislative Aide for the Massachusetts House of Representatives with the Committee on Rules and the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Norfolk County Bar Association, and he holds a Legal Innovation & Technology Certificate from Suffolk University Law School.

Outside the office, Hawkins enjoys hockey and golf, and spending time with his family.
