Deadly Blaze Engulfs East Boston Residential Complex

Boston, MA (April 2, 2024) – At around 5 a.m. Tuesday, a devastating six-alarm fire erupted in an East Boston multifamily residence, resulting in at least one fatality and several injuries. The fire, which blazed at the intersection of West Eagle Street and Meridian Street, rapidly extended to nearby buildings.
The Boston Fire Commissioner, Paul Burke, reported that during the emergency, firefighters were able to rescue five individuals through the use of aerial ladders.
