BOSTON — On Wednesday, a single-vehicle accident occurred when a tractor-trailer overturned on a service road in the vicinity of Boston Logan International Airport. The incident prompted a swift response from emergency services and caused traffic disruptions in the area.

The driver of the truck, a 62-year-old Methuen resident, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for medical attention. Authorities have confirmed that no other vehicles were implicated in the accident.

The overturned truck was carrying a container loaded with lye, a chemical commonly used as a cleaning agent. The nature of the cargo necessitated a careful cleanup procedure.

Authorities deployed heavy-duty tow trucks to upright and remove the tractor-trailer from the accident site, located near the airport’s economy parking lot. Cleanup efforts were managed by Massport officials.

Lane closures were implemented to ensure the safety of the cleanup crew and to facilitate the flow of traffic around the disrupted area. While the exact cause of the accident has not been disclosed, police are conducting an investigation to determine the contributing factors.
