Truck accident in Boston

In a tragic turn of events on Interstate 95 south in Needham, Massachusetts, a collision between two pickup trucks resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to another during the early hours of Tuesday’s commute. The incident, which occurred just before 4:40 a.m. near Exit 33, triggered extensive traffic congestion throughout the surrounding area.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, the accident transpired amid rainy conditions when one of the trucks lost control and was hit broadside while positioned across the lanes of traffic. The impact led to the immediate death of the driver of the struck vehicle at the scene. Meanwhile, emergency services transported the second driver to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash.

The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released to the public.

The aftermath of the accident saw the closure of the three left lanes of the southbound highway, as noted by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Commuters experienced significant delays in both southbound and northbound directions on Interstate 95 as a result.

State police cleared the scene by approximately 9:00 a.m. and are anticipated to provide further details as the investigation progresses.

The traffic disruption caused by the accident also had potential implications for the Karen Read murder trial, with NBC10 Boston’s Sue O’Connell reporting that the incident might delay the second day of courtroom proceedings.
