In Littleton, Massachusetts, a significant disruption occurred on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail line when an MBTA commuter train collided with a truck on Monday. The accident prompted the closure of King Street Extension and subsequent delays for rail commuters.

The collision happened near the crossing of King and Taylor streets, where the train struck the rear of a tractor-trailer, leaving the vehicle visibly marred with its rear wheels dislodged. Authorities responded to the scene where the commuter train involved was halted in the vicinity of the accident.

Thankfully, Littleton police reported no injuries from the incident. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the MBTA Transit Police. The repercussions of the collision were felt on the rail line, with at least one train being canceled and others experiencing delays as a result of the incident.

The disruption comes as an unwelcomed inconvenience for those who rely on the Fitchburg line for their daily commute, illustrating the ripple effects a single event can have on public transportation systems. The investigation is ongoing, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
